Commissioned for the Illuminate Coral Gables Festival in Miami,
Echos Souls was created in memory of those we lost during the pandemic.
Beyond the seductive aesthetics of tropical patterns, this new media
innovative video is a bridge between nature, science, technology, heritage and art.
As it emphasises questions related to environmental flux, global migrations, identity and spirituality.
What if the city of Miami is another Caribbean island meant to disappear underwater in a few decades ?
Where will my family migrate to without fearing for their lives because of the prejudice of skin color ?
Or shall we accept to be submerged by the oceans to express
our dignity, freedom and resilience ?
Thanks to the gorgeous façade of the Davidson Building, this large scale video acts like a monumental beacon,
in these times of chaos, trauma and change.
Its visual qualities are a symbol of hope, and of renewal.
