La Fabrique Tropicale Francophonies

David Gumbs was invited by Tropiques Atrium Scène National and Hassane Kassi Kouyaté
for his introduction project as new director of the Francophonies de Limoges.

He presented a minimal version of Blossoms where the stronger the public blows in the Conch Shell
the larger and faster the patterns bloom. Thus materialising the relation between the need to breath clean air
and the magic of the process. But also, it speaks about the conch shell being an endangered species
in the Caribbean because of overfishing.

The artist enjoy deflecting traditional objects use to digital interpretations.
Especially with all the symbolism this shell carried throughout slavery and before.
